Elisa B. Hughey Scholarship for the Arts
A scholarship fund has been established to honor the memory of Elisa B. Hughey and celebrate her love for the arts. For 2019, two $1000 scholarships will be awarded – one to a graduating senior from West Valley Central School (WVCS) and a second to a graduating senior from Ellicottville Central School (ECS). Elisa was an accomplished artist with both a Masters in Art Education from Buffalo State University and a Masters in Fine Arts from the University of Buffalo. She appreciated all aspects of the arts; the scholarship will be awarded to a college bound student committed to advancing their skills in any aspect of the fine arts (to include sculpture, painting, drawing, watercolor, graphics, animation, architecture/design, and photography) with preference to students seeking a higher education specific to those goals.
The scholarship submission consists of a completed application form, artist’s statement, and a letter of recommendation from a current or past instructor. Examples of art work are also encouraged to be included, as applicable (e.g., photos or videos of artwork.)
Eligible ECS and WVCS may apply for the scholarship through the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation common application portal at: https://www.cattfoundation.
The portal is open from February 1st – April 1st.
Scholarship recipients will be notified as part of the schools’ graduation ceremonies.
